Stronger Together ’22

On 13th February, 2022, the homeschooling community of the twin cities was brought together for a day of inspiration and festivities at Brave Learners’ Curriculum and Makers’ Faire, dubbed “Stronger Together”.

The first run of this event in 2019 had been a great success, but this time round the response was even more overwhelming, with over 150 families attending.

The fair was divided into three sections, with something for everyone! It included curriculum stalls for mums and dads, stalls by various publishers and Makers Niche where crafters, artists, science enthusiasts and entrepreneurs of the homeschooling community showcased their diverse talents and creations.

MAKERS NICHE

Festive hubbub filled the atmosphere in the Makers’ Section, where there were 23 stalls by young makers – selling and displaying talents such as:

  • Woodwork
  • App development
  • Electronic projects
  • Calligraphy
  • Acrylic painting
  • Skincare products
  • Crochet
  • Knitting
  • Felt and quilling
  • Faux jewelry
  • Hand painted totes
  • Resin art
  • 4D origami
  • Handicrafts
  • Macrame
  • Clay work
  • Poetry
  • Photography

In addition, there were also 16 food and games stalls. Young entrepreneurs were selling all kinds of homemade food – from pasta, dahi bhallay, lemonade to cupcakes, sandwiches and delicious baked goodies. Youngsters had also setup interesting games stalls like Darts, Ring a Bear, Buzz Out, Puzzle Pop, Flip the Bottle and many more!

MUMS’ CURRICULUM SECTION

Guidance and curriculum recommendations were provided by veteran homeschooling moms on topics such as:

  • Quran
  • Hifdh
  • Seerah
  • Arabic
  • Urdu
  • Iqbaliyat
  • Math
  • History
  • Social Sciences
  • Nature Studies
  • Early Learning
  • Unschooling & Co Ops
  • Parenting & Homeschooling Counselling
  • Personal Development
  • World Schooling
  • Living Books

DADS’ CURRICULUM SECTION

For the first time, homeschooling dads came forward to form a much-needed support corner offering their unique insights and skills for the great benefit of the community. They had stalls covering:

  • Emaaniyat
  • Social Sciences
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Living the Quran
  • Career Counselling
  • Electronics
  • Robotics
  • Role of fathers in homeschooling.

PUBLISHERS

Handpicked publishers, relatively unknown but with excellent alternative curricula were invited to the Stronger Together Fair. They were selling books at up to 25% discount especially for the homeschooling community. Publishers chosen were:

  • ERI
  • AFAQ
  • IPS
  • Mashraba Ilm o Hikmat
  • CEF

There was a special Old Books Stall as well, with books handpicked by veteran booklovers of our community! We were also honored by the presence of Umm Abd Muneeb from Mashraba Ilm o Hikmat who shared her precious advice regarding parenting and raising children.
